The
citizens of Tullahoma are proud of the educational opportunities
provided by Tullahoma City Schools. A varied curriculum is
offered at all education levels designed to meet students
needs. Courses for the college-bound student include advanced
placement and honors classes in mathematics, the sciences,
accounting, computers and foreign languages. Students ACT
and SAT scores for college entrance consistently exceed the
state and national average and five students have achieved
perfect ACT or SAT scores since 1999. The Tullahoma School
System has piloted a career services program that will allow
all students access to workplace experiences, including non-paid
shadowing and mentorship, and the Marine Corps ROTC program.
The success of the graduates is not only the result of an
excellent secondary program, but is indicative of the total
educational spectrum from kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Curriculum includes excellent music and athletic departments,
and the system also provides homebound services, speech and
hearing services, classes for both educable and severely mentally
retarded, Chapter 1 reading, tutoring and a Creating Educational
Opportunities (C.E.O.) program where industries and individuals
provide time, effort and funds to enhance the curriculum in
Tullahoma.
Kindergarten is provided in the public school system and there
is a School Age Care Program Program "Kool Kids",
for children before and after school hours, available at all
elementary schools and West Middle School.
Tullahoma has four elementary schools, two middle schools
and one high school -- the pupil teacher ratio is 20 to 1
and 65% - 70% of high school graduates go on to secondary
training.
Tullahoma
also has a private parochial school, St. Paul the Apostle,
a Catholic school with grades K-12.
Policy for the Tullahoma City School is set by Board of Education
members elected by the general public for four-year terms.
The board employs a Superintendent of Schools. Current school
