Update
Your Airport Authority has worked hard
to improve our Airport over the past year with
more improvements coming in 2008.
Some of our highlights: paid off the 1997 hangar
construction bond early, saving the
Airport $56,962 in future interest payments; obtained
31 acres of property on the north
east side of the Airport to help protect against
encroachment; expanded the security fencing on the east side
of the Airport; completed
numerous emergency concrete repair projects on Runway 18 /
36 and the ramp area; and
obtained funding from the City and State for several major
improvement projects for 2008.
Within the next few weeks, the Harton hangar project will be
complete with 18 new
hangars ready for use. The City also provided the Airport
(at no cost) a “like new” mini-van as
a replacement
courtesy vehicle for transient pilots.
As of today, all but 4 hangar owners on the South end of the
ramp have made outside appearance
improvements, passed safety inspections, and signed new,
long term lease agreements. We
thank these owners for their cooperation and willingness to
improve both the safety and
appearanceof our Airport.
We are also waiting approval of our updated Airport Layout Plan from
the FAA. This plan will provide the blueprint for the future
growth and expansion of your Airport.
A copy of our long range plan for the Airport is available
in the terminal building and is also posted
on our web site at:
http://www.tullahoma-tn.com/airport.html.
We will begin overlay of runway 6 / 24, its taxiway and the
main ramp next summer. These
projects will lead to
long term benefits for the Airport; however, there will be some short term
inconveniences and runway closures during the construction.
We will make every effort to file
NOTAM’s and put notices of construction schedules and
closures in the terminal as far in advance
as possible. Plans
for 2008 also include airfield drainage improvement projects, additional s
ecurity fencing to the new Harton hangarsand self-service on
the AVGAS fuel tank. We ask you
to send your e-mail address to TAA@Charterinternet.com so that we
can notify you of closures
and other important Airport information.
Safety and security will continue to be our top priority. On January 2, 2008 the gate access
code will change! Call
people who have no
business driving on our ramp! Help us support the Airport Watch program
and report any suspicious activities to 1-866-GA-Secure or
to
desire to purchase a remote transmitter for the gates,
please contact
We always welcome your comments and suggestions for
improvements at your Airport. The
Airport Authority meets on the 2nd Tuesday of
each month at 6pm in the Airport Authority office
(exception: our January 2008 meetingwill begin at 5pm).
We wish you a safe and happy New Year, and may your takeoffs
and landings be equal in number!
